- 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract.
- On a floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry and cut it into 4-inch squares.
- Place a spoonful of the strawberry mixture in the center of each pastry square.
- Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a pocket, pinching the edges to seal.
- Arrange the sealed pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush with beaten egg.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon over the filling or add lemon zest. Ensure puff pastry is chilled before use.
