Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup fresh or dried cranberries
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated cheese (such as Gruyere or Cheddar)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste

- Layer half of the sweet potato slices evenly across the bottom of the greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the cranberries over the sweet potato layer. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Drizzle half of the heavy cream over the layered sweet potatoes and cranberries.
- Repeat the process with the remaining sweet potato slices, cranberries, and the rest of the heavy cream.
- Dot the top layer with small pieces of butter and sprinkle the grated cheese over everything.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-60 minutes, until the sweet potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
- Let the gratin cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon; use half-and-half for a lighter option; and try adding chopped nuts like pecans for crunch.
