Description
A comprehensive guide for preparing a memorable Thanksgiving feast with no dish left behind.
Ingredients
- Turkey (12-14 pounds)
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage)
- Butter (1 cup)
- Garlic (4 cloves)
- Onions (2, chopped)
- Carrots (2, chopped)
- Celery (2 stalks, chopped)
- Chicken broth (4 cups)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Stuffing mix (optional)
- Cranberry sauce (for garnish)
- Pumpkin pie (for dessert)
- Rolls (for serving)
Instructions
- Begin by thawing your turkey in the refrigerator for several days prior to cooking. This is crucial to ensure a safe and even cooking process. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- In a large bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic and chopped fresh herbs. Pat the turkey dry and rub the herb butter mixture under the skin and all over the outside.
- Place chopped onions, carrots, and celery in the bottom of a roasting pan. Position the turkey on top of the vegetables. Pour chicken broth around the turkey. Roast for approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, basting every 30 minutes.
- Once the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C), remove it from the oven and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before carving.
Notes
Brine your turkey overnight for added flavor and juiciness. Use a meat thermometer to ensure it is perfectly cooked.
