Description

Chewy bars packed with colorful Valentine-themed M&Ms, perfect for celebrations and school treats.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup Valentine-themed M&M candies
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture, mixing until just combined.
  4. Fold in the M&Ms and chocolate chips if using. Reserve a small handful of M&Ms for topping.
  5. Spread the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle the reserved M&Ms on top.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
  8. Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally dusted with powdered sugar.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
