- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter until well combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry in small batches until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.
- Remove beignets from oil and drain on paper towels. While still warm, dust generously with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
Notes
Fry in small batches to maintain oil temperature for even browning. Serve warm with powdered sugar and optional dipping sauces.
