Description
Buttery, nutty treats dusted in powdered sugar, these cookies melt in your mouth with a toasty walnut flavor and a hint of vanilla.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup finely chopped walnuts
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth and pale. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the flour, chopped walnuts, and salt until the dough comes together, avoiding overmixing.
- Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on the prepared baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until the bottoms are lightly golden, watching carefully to avoid overbaking.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes, then roll each cookie in powdered sugar while still warm. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, dust again with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Use room-temperature butter for smooth creaming. Chop walnuts finely for an even texture. For a thicker sugar coating, dust again after cooling.
