- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 cup dried fruits (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a bundt pan with butter or nonstick spray and dust with flour.
- Cream together softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves. Gradually add to creamed mixture alternating with milk.
- Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Tent with foil if browning too fast.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or serve warm with ice cream.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing once flour is added.
