Description

Spooky and delicious cookies perfect for Halloween or festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Whole almonds
  • Red food coloring or raspberry jam

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy. Add in the vanilla extract, almond extract, and egg; mix until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture, mixing until just combined.
  4. Divide the dough into small pieces and shape them into finger forms. Press a whole almond at one end of each cookie to mimic a fingernail.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  6. Let the cookies cool on a wire rack. Optionally brush with red food coloring or dip in raspberry jam for a spooky effect.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for up to 10 days. Can be frozen for up to three months.
