Delightfully sweet cinnamon rolls filled with apple butter, perfect for breakfast or a cozy snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1Â envelope active dry yeast (1 tablespoon)
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2Â large eggs (beaten)
- 6 tablespoons butter (melted and slightly cooled)
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup apple butter
- ½ cup light brown sugar (packed)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ¾ cup cream cheese
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- pinch salt
Instructions
- Begin by preparing the yeast mixture. In a small bowl, combine half a cup of warm milk with the active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Combine the sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and eggs in a large mixing bowl. Whisk everything together until well blended.
- Add the frothy yeast mixture to this mix and stir until everything is combined.
- Gradually add the all-purpose flour, cinnamon, and salt to the mixture. Stir until a dough begins to form. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle. Spread apple butter over the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into 12 equal pieces. Place in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before enjoying!
