Description
A delightful twist on a classic dessert, combining warm, spiced apples with fluffy biscuit layers, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Slowly stir in the milk until just combined.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out circular shapes.
- Mix the diced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in another bowl. On a baking sheet, place half of the dough circles, spoon some of the apple mixture on top of each, and cover with another dough circle.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving and top with whipped cream if desired.
Notes
Use cold butter for flaky biscuits. Don’t over-mix the dough.
