Description

A delightful dish combining savory ground beef with vibrant vegetables, topped with a cheesy biscuit-like dough. Perfect for families or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup diced bell pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat along with the diced onions, bell peppers, and minced garlic until fully cooked.
  2. Stir in the canned diced tomatoes and season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Add in the milk and melted butter, stirring until just combined.
  4. Pour the beef mixture into a greased baking dish, then spoon the batter over the top, ensuring it is covered. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the batter.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For added heartiness, consider adding frozen mixed vegetables or corn to the beef mixture.
