Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine sourdough starter, flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips carefully.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

These muffins can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or frozen for up to 2 months.
