Description

Cranberry Orange Scones are the perfect blend of sweet and tart flavors, creating a delightful treat for breakfast or afternoon tea, with zesty orange zest and chewy cranberries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the dried cranberries and the zest of one orange.
  5. Whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
  6. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  7. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently, patting it into a 1-inch thick circle.
  8. Cut into wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, use cold butter and avoid overmixing the dough. Can be enjoyed warm with butter or jam.
