Description

Maple Beaver Tails are a delightful treat reminiscent of donuts and pastries, topped with maple syrup and powdered sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Oil for frying
  • Maple syrup for drizzling
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add melted butter, milk, and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes resembling beaver tails.
  7. Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Fry the dough pieces for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  9. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  10. Drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
