Maple Beaver Tails are a delightful treat reminiscent of donuts and pastries, topped with maple syrup and powdered sugar.
Ingredients

- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- Oil for frying
- Maple syrup for drizzling
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add melted butter, milk, and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes resembling beaver tails.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the dough pieces for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Best served warm; can be topped with fruit or ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
